Find out how CSIRO is shaping the future using science to solve real issues at the CSIRO Discovery Centre in Canberra.
CSIRO is Australia’s leading scientific agency. We are our nation’s primary patent holder, with some of our world-renowned successes including WLAN (used in WiFi), Aerogard and plastic polymer banknotes.
Our education programs encourage students to wonder, ask questions and get involved in real science. A school visit to CSIRO Discovery is an engaging, challenging and thought-provoking experience for students, revealing the positive impact science has on industry, people and the planet.
A popular and engaging exhibition-based program covering all general capabilities of the curriculum,
focusing on ICT capability as well as Critical and Creative Thinking.
Students can participate in an interactive QR code activity using iPads around the exhibition floor
to discover how CSIRO’s innovations in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
have influenced their lives. The program covers cross curricular priorities ranging from Sustainability to
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures. Students will also have an opportunity to
explore the exhibition.
