Royal Australian Mint

Visit the Royal Australian Mint to:

  • learn how coins are made and make your own $1 coin (cost $3)
  • see robots at work.
  • explore the story of Australian coins.

Australian Curriculum links

The Mint program links to the Humanities and Social Sciences, Visual Arts, Cross-Curriculum Priorities and Design and Technologies learning areas.

Students will discover:

  • how trade, currency and the way we use money has changed over time
  • how coins are used to celebrate and commemorate significant events
  • how technology helps us design and make coins.
