National Arboretum

The National Arboretum Canberra is a mosaic of living forests and gardens with breathtaking views, extensive outdoor spaces and the POD Playground, providing the perfect place for Students and Teachers to recharge.

The Arboretum’s collection of rare, endangered and iconic trees from around the world provides an opportunity to learn about conservation, ecology and the vital importance of trees and forest systems to the world’s environment.

Orienteering is a great way to take advantage of the wide-open spaces at the Arboretum by challenging Students to work together to read maps and strategically search for markers (available as a daytime or evening program).

Join our passionate staff for engaging education programs linking into the sustainability, ecology and geography curriculum – available for Preschool to Year 12.

Groups are welcome to use the lawns and shaded decks for lunch.

While you are here visit:

  • The POD Playground (bookings required).
  • The National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia.
  • The National Rock Garden.
  • The Bush Tucker Garden.
  • Walking trails.
  • Lookouts.
  • Sculptures.
