Royal Australian Mint

We’re moving temporarily

The Royal Australian Mint in Deakin will be closed as we freshen up for our 60th birthday.

The Mint Coin Shop and a special exhibition will be relocating to Canberra Museum + Gallery(CMAG) in Civic.

Come check out our special exhibition Change: Stories from your Pocket; open from19 February 2024 at CMAG.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Deakin in Spring 2024 with new galleries, a new shop and improved amenities.

Australian Curriculum links

The Mint provides links to HASS, Civics and Citizenship, History, Mathematics, and Technologies learning areas.

Students will discover:

•how trade, currency and the way we use money has changed over time

•how coins are used to commemorate significant events

•how technology helps us design and make coins.
