Canberra Glassworks
Fire up your curriculum with an out-of-the-ordinary excursion to Canberra Glassworks!
Located in the historic Kingston Powerhouse – the largest glassmaking facility in the Southern Hemisphere – Canberra Glassworks offers Australian Curriculum aligned school tours connecting to science, history, design and visual arts.
Wednesday–Sunday, 10:30 am – 3:00 pm, with additional Thursday evening sessions at 6:00 pm.
Choose your adventure:
1. Glassworks Tour
45 minutes • $30 pp • Min 15 – Max 45
Go behind the scenes to learn the Powerhouse’s history, explore glassmaking techniques and discover the chemistry and sustainability of glass.
2. Glassworks Tour + Tile
90 minutes • $60 pp • Min 15 – Max 45
Includes a tour plus a hands-on workshop where Students cut, design, and kiln-form a glass tile (postage included).
3. Hotshop Demo
45 minutes • $50 pp • Min 20 – Max 45
Watch a live glassblowing demonstration while exploring the science behind molten glass and teamwork in the Hotshop.
4. Hotshop Demo + Tile
90 minutes • $80 pp • Min 20 – Max 45
Enjoy a glassblowing demonstration and create a personal glass tile through kiln forming (postage included).
