Australia’s hottest school excursion is now available morning, afternoon and Thursday evenings!

Canberra Glassworks is the largest studio glass making facility in the Southern.

Located within the heritage listed Kingston Powerhouse, near the city centre,this is the only school experience of its kind in Australia, where Students can getup close to an active glass factory and even try it for themselves!

Whether you’re planning a daytime visitor looking for a flexible after‑hours option on Thursday evenings, we’ll tailor the experience to your group.

Book an excursion with us Wednesday–Sunday between 9 am and 4.45 pm, with additional Thursday evening sessions from 5 pm.

1. Guided Facility Tour

45 minutes | Min 15 | $30 per person

Take a behind-the-scenes tour to learn about the Powerhouse’s role in the development of Australia’s planned capital city and how it has become a world class glass making facility, while exploring glass making techniques.

2. Glass Tile making Workshop

45 minutes | Min 15 | $30 per person

Learn from leading Australian glass artists in this hands-on tile making workshop.

Each Student will cut, design, and arrange a glass composition, which will be kiln formed into a unique glass tile as a souvenir of their Canberra excursion.

3. Live Hotshop Demonstration

45 minutes | Min 20 | $50 per person

Uncover the science of glassblowing in this Hotshop demonstration.

Students will have a firsthand look at the process of shaping molten glass using traditional tools and techniques.
