Canberra Museum and Gallery

A vibrant place in the heart of the city, Canberra Museum and Gallery (CMAG) celebrates the region’s social history and visual arts with dynamic exhibitions and unique programs and events.

CMAG offers a wide range of learning programs with an emphasis on art and history, designed as interactive learning experiences. Programs are held in gallery spaces, with accompanying practical sessions in the studio.

The Nolan Collection

The Nolan Collection at CMAG exhibits iconic works of art by Australian artist Sidney Nolan. This important collection is explored through visual arts learning programs available in the gallery and studio spaces or as outreach and online resources.

The Art Box

Years F – 3

Students engage with works of art through play-based activities and use QR code technology to respond and make. Available as an outreach resource for schools in the Canberra region.

Stop.Motion.Nolan

Years 3 – 6

Students use stop-motion animation techniques to engage with paintings and stories in the Nolan Collection. Available as an online resource or outreach learning program for schools in the Canberra region.

Nolan Secondary Learning Resource

Years 7-12 Students engage with the work of Sidney Nolan through Responding prompts and Making activities that foster creative and critical thinking. This online resource is aligned with the Australian Curriculum.
