Australian War Memorial
Our continuing story
The Australian War Memorial is committed to creating the best possible learning experience for your students, in one of the world’s most engaging museums. 2021 marks 80 years since the Memorial began telling the story of Australia’s involvement in war and peace keeping operations. The Memorial is now extending the experience, through an historic development program which will substantially increase its ability to tell the stories of those who have served and are currently serving. By mid-2021 there will be significant construction beginning onsite, however we are still open for business, offering Education programs in the galleries closely aligned with the Australian Curriculum.
The Memorial’s passionate educators draw on personal stories represented by exhibitions in the galleries, providing a much deeper learning experience for students and teachers. Bookings are essential for all visits and activities, including Education programs, School Wreath Laying Ceremonies, and attendance at the Last Post Ceremony.
Please note that COVID safe practices implemented on site for the safety of all visitors may limit availability. Check the website for up to date booking information. https://www.awm.gov.au/visit/schools
