Australian War Memorial
The Australian War Memorial is committed to creating a meaningful commemorative learning experience for your students, in one of the world’s most engaging museums.
The Memorial has embarked on an historic development program which will substantially increase its ability to tell the stories of those who have served and are currently serving. There is now significant construction onsite; however the Memorial is still open for business, offering Education programs closely aligned with relevant outcomes in the Australian Curriculum. The programs draw on personal stories represented by exhibitions in the galleries.
Bookings are essential for all visits and activities, including Education programs, School Wreath Laying Ceremonies, and attendance at the Last Post Ceremony.
Please note that there is currently no self-guiding option available onsite, and availability for some activities may be limited. Check the website for up to date booking information: awm.gov.au/learn/schools/visits
Check out the student activities and learning resources, including Virtual Excursion bookings available for use in the classroom on the Memorial’s website: awm.gov.au/learn/schools
Virtual Excursions, Classroom Resources and education publications for all ages draw on the fascinating collection and personal stories.
