Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)

Experience the AIS

Discover Australia’s premier elite sport precinct. Sport is Australia’s passion, so get into the spirit and find out what it takes to become a high performance athlete. Bring your students along to experience the excitement.

Tour the AIS

On a guided 90-minute Australian Institute of Sport Tour, your students will discover where Australia’s sporting champions are created and gain a unique insight into the life of elite athletes. On one of Canberra’s most popular tours, your students gain an insight into our rich sporting past and a window into its future.

Challenge yourself in Sportex

Step into a world of fun, excitement and activity with Sportex, our interactive sports experience, where students can try wheelchair racing, downhill skiing, rock climbing, football penalty shootouts and more. Best of all, Sportex is included free as part of an AIS Tour. Make sure you leave time to visit the AIS Shop for great sporting gear and AIS souvenirs.

Tour times

Tours depart daily at 10 am, 11.30 am, 1 pm, 2.30 pm and 4 pm. Additional weekday tours depart at 8.30 am, 5.30 pm and 7.30 pm. Costs apply.

Add an AIS Sports Experience

Complete your stay with us with a Sports Experience. Students participate in a 90-minute program learning rules, skills and drills for up to three different sports. School groups can also book lanes in the heated pool at the AIS Aquatic and Fitness Centre. Burn off that excess energy. Costs apply
