National Film and Sound Archive

Spark your students’ imagination! Experience the amazing world of Australian film, television, radio, music and video gaming to inspire your students. One of them may be the next Baz Luhrmann! Through enquiry-based learning, let our dynamic educators introduce our collection of more than 3 million items and guide your students to understand the impact of audiovisual culture, past and present.

Unlocking advertising

Are you resistent to persuasive advertising? In this program we unlock how advertisements influence our decisions and change our behaviour. From the captivating to the bizarre, students will discover the persuasive techniques used in iconic Australian advertisements as we investigate using the key media literacy skills required to navigate our contemporary world.

Indigenous representations on screen

This award-winning program looks at the important, iconic roles Indigenous Australians play in the screen industries. Our educators create a safe cultural space for open dialogue on Indigenous cultures, contested histories, and identity in contemporary Australian society. We do not shy away from the complex and challenging aspects of this important conversation.

Animation

Explore changing technologies within animation, its history, and key Australian productions. From early projection techniques to astonishing special effects, this program is a creative rollercoaster that will open eyes, hearts and minds to the magic of animation.

Other programs on offer

We can take students on a journey through the NFSA’s collection to discover Australia’s social and cultural history in our Highlights program, or explore how science and film have shaped each other to illuminate what we see on screen in our Lamplight to LED program.
