Outward Bound

 

Outward Bound’s Tharwa Campus is on the outskirts of the ACT, just 30 minutes from Parliament House.

Surrounded by rolling hills and sun-soaked valleys, Tharwa Campus sits on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River at the foot of Mount Tennent with resident kangaroos, wombats and countless birdlife in the abundant native trees.

Tharwa Campus is the ideal location to combine visiting the sights of Canberra, with outdoor and environmental education and fun activities.

 

Accommodation

•142 people can sleep in our comfortable renovated cabins and bunkhouses.

•Each bedroom has an ensuite with bunks for between 4 and 8 people.

•Teachers’ cabins have a communal area and kitchenette with fridge and microwave.

•Sleeping bags and linen can be hired for additional charge.

 

Catering

•Our Chef’s full service includes fresh, healthy breakfasts and dinners in an indoor dining hall seating 60 and an outside dining area seating 30.

•Morning/afternoon tea and lunch can be eaten on campus or packed for your Canberra excursion.

•Meals are generously portioned to suit a day full of activities, and we offer a wide variety of choice.

•Dietary requirements catered for.

 

Activities and educational experiences

•Onsite adventure activities:‒High ropes course, giant ladder, abseiling, climbing wall, river raft building, giant swing, vertical playpen, low ropes and spider’s web.

•Other onsite activities:

‒Environmental: Nature discovery, tree planting, Citizen Science.

‒Bush craft workshops, pizza oven and outdoor dining, night walks, stargazing, open fire cooking.

‒Problem-solving and lateral-thinking games and challenges.

•Offsite adventure activities:‒Hiking, bushwalking, rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing and river rafting.

 

Days can finish with a campfire in front of the cabins or a video in our function room
