National Capital Authority

Selecting our education programs provides an important introduction and orientation to the National Capital.

The Griffin Mission, Anzac Parade and Reconciliation Place are all PACER approved programs.

All bookings are made via bookcanberraexcursions.com.au .

Onsite education

Ngunnawal people, through careful custodianship, enabled a resource-rich location that became the preferred site for the new capital, Canberra.

Study of the design and creation of Canberra closely aligns to the Australian Curriculum for Civics & Citizenship and History.

The National Capital Exhibition is an essential stop for every excursion when Students visit Canberra.

The Story of Canberra

The Griffin Mission - PACER approved

The Griffin Mission program tells the story of the National Capital, from First Nation’s history to today.

Students learn why Canberra became the federal site, discuss the city design solution proposed by the Griffins and consider how the original vision is maintained and
developed into the future.

A hands-on activity is included where Students design a futuristic city with a sustainable focus.

Reconciliation Place - PACER approved

Reconciliation Place is an essential visit when teaching values of reconciliation, compassion and forgiveness.

Its public artworks spark conversation on our shared journey toward Reconciliation.

Students touch and explore artworks, reflecting on important First Nations events and milestone achievements.

Anzac Parade - PACER approved

Taking part in a walking tour of selected Memorials along Anzac Parade, Students investigate how we honour service through the creation of memorials.

Discussion builds on how conflict is remembered and memorialised.

Walking tours offer sensory learning, where Students explore sculptures, building understanding about how signs and symbols are used to convey meaning.

Lake Burley Griffin

Explore Commonwealth Park and Lake Burley Griffin in an outdoor education program that teaches sustainable values.

Learn about garden city design, planning for sustainable futures, and the role of active citizenship.

Investigate the iconic land and water axis.

How is our central park and ornamental lake maintained for the future?
