Questacon has two facilities in Canberra—the iconic National Science and Technology Centre in the Parliamentary Zone, and The Ian Potter Foundation Technology Learning Centre in Deakin— offering experiences founded on Questacon’s philosophy of hands-on learning.


Program Information
The Questacon Maker Project offers free handson, technology, innovation and design workshops
developed specifically for students in years 6–12. Questacon Maker Project workshops are delivered in our very own Maker Space at The Ian Potter Foundation Technology Learning Centre in Deakin, where creative ideas and real time innovation come to life.

These learner-centred workshops foster creative thinking and support Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education with links to the Australian Curriculum. Students use everyday materials and simple tools to make, try and refine prototypes and innovate solutions to STEM problems.

Our fully facilitated workshops cover a range of topics. Students can hack robots to do their chores, try their hand at designing a rifling rocket and discover how Australian innovators are making waves in sustainable energy production.

Workshops are offered Monday to Friday as morning or afternoon sessions for groups of 20–72 students depending on the workshop. Bookings are essential.
