Australian War Memorial

The Australian War Memorial is committed to creating the best possible learning experience for your students, in one of the world’s most engaging museums. For more than 75 years the Australian War Memorial has been telling the story of Australia’s involvement in war through the eyes of those who serve.

Virtual Excursions, Classroom Resources and Education Publications for all ages draw on the fascinating collection and personal stories.

The Memorial is now extending the experience, through an historic 10-year development program which will substantially increase its ability to tell the stories of those who have served and are currently serving. By mid-2020 there will be significant construction beginning onsite, however we are still open for business, offering education programs in the galleries closely aligned with the Australian Curriculum: Humanities and Social Science.

The Memorial’s passionate educators draw on personal stories represented by exhibitions in the galleries, providing a much deeper learning experience for students and teachers. Bookings are essential for all visits and activities, including for teacher-guided groups, education programs, school wreath laying ceremonies, and attendance at the Last Post Ceremony.
